EPSRC Aunt Sue: Street Design Index: developing a tool to help design and planning for the Whole Journey Environment.

This GIS based tool is being developed to enable designer and planners to model various aspects and features of the urban environment to understand how these can affect users perceptions of streets and public areas. It hopes that by doing so it will help planners to identify areas that are negatively perceived by pedestrians and so have become potential barriers to their movements and journeys.
